On the opposite end of the boardwalk you can rent – bikes, surfboards, body boards, etc. Many restaurants, diners, hair salons, surf shops and coffee shops are all within walking distance (2 blocks). Two miles away, over the bridge, is the historic downtown Melbourne, great restaurants, gift shops, antiques, fine boutiques, fine wine shops, coffee shops and a wonderful small theater (The Phoenix), and the Henegar Center.
If you love boating you can rent boats or jet skis to explore the tiny islands and their sandy beaches in the intracoastal waterway (Indian River Lagoon).
